  Julien Brachet est géographe, chercheur à l’IRD. Son travail porte sur les dynamiques économiques et politiques au Sahara et au Sahel, ainsi que sur les modes de production de connaissance en sciences sociales. Il a été rédacteur en chef de la revue Politique africaine (2018-2021), et chercheur invité à Niamey, Oxford, N’Djaména, Princeton et Stellenbosch. Il est l’auteur ou co-auteur de plusieurs publications, notamment Migrations transsahariennes (2009), The Value of Disorder (2019) et Looking for the Political in Africa (2026).

  Julien Brachet is a geographer and researcher at IRD. His work focuses on economic and political dynamics in the Sahara and the Sahel, as well as means of knowledge production in the social sciences. He was editor-in-chief of the journal Politique africaine (2018–2021), and visiting researcher in Niamey, Oxford, N’Djamena, Princeton and Stellenbosch. He is the author or co-author of several publications, including Migrations transsahariennes (2009), The Value of Disorder (2019) and Looking for the Political in Africa (2026).
